The Y is an association of men, women, and children joined together by a shared commitment to strengthen our community. Our programs and services nurture the potential of kids, provide healthy living and foster a sense of social responsibility. The University City YMCA offers a fun, safe environment to 300 kids each in summer camp and another 100 during the hours of after school where they engage scholarships through YMCA financial assistance. By supporting the Y and King Tiger 5K, you are helping to develop the potential of our children and teens!
Greenways are natural area corridors along our creeks and streams that provide multiple benefits – including habitat protection, flood protection and trail opportunities. Greenway trails offer convenient, safe, accessible opportunities for recreation and fitness. They also serve as an alternate transportation option to nearby destinations including neighborhoods and schools. There are currently over 30 miles of greenway trail constructed along 14 overland and stream corridors. The greenway corridor system has also protected more than 3,o00 acres of floodplain habitat. The updated greenway master plan calls for an additional 42 miles of trail to be constructed as funding permits.
